Renault Scenic 1.6 DCi Stage 1 Remap
On Renault Scenic 1.6 DCi diesel engines a Stage 1 remap recalibrates the fuel quantity, injection timing, boost pressure and torque limiter maps. No hardware is changed and the original software is backed up. The same engine is sold with different stock outputs across generations, so the gain depends on your version.
It depends on the generation and the stock output. 1.6 DCi engines with 130–160 bhp reach 160–180 bhp with a Stage 1 remap; the largest gain is +30 bhp (IV 1.6 DCi 130hp). Pick your version in the table below.

About the Renault / Nissan 1.6 dCi (R9M)
The 1.6 dCi replaced the 1.9 and 2.0 dCi and powers the Megane, Scenic, Kadjar, Talisman, Trafic and Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail. It comes as a 130 hp single-turbo and a 160 hp twin-turbo.
How a Stage 1 remap works on the Renault Scenic 1.6 DCi
Stage 1 recalibrates boost, injection and torque maps. The single-turbo version gains clearly in the mid-range; on the twin-turbo the handover between the two turbos becomes smoother. On EDC automatic cars the gearbox torque limit is respected.
Pre-remap checklist
- EGR valve and intake manifold soot.
- DPF load and regeneration history.
- Boost leaks and intercooler hoses.
- Oil level; the engine is sensitive to oil consumption.
This section is based on GP Power ECU workshop experience; the power and torque figures come from the catalogue measurement above.
