Checksum Correction
Correctly recalculating the checksum of a modified ECU file.
What is Checksum Correction?
ECU files contain checksums that verify integrity. When a file is modified these must be recalculated, otherwise the ECU may reject it. Our built-in PrimeChecksum engine does this automatically.
When is it needed?
- ECU rejecting the file after tuning
- Checksum error and failed write
- An edited file that will not load into the car
Benefits
- The file writes safely
- Automatic correction across supported ECU families
- Built-in checksum support for dealers
Compatible vehicle types
Frequently asked questions
What is a checksum?
It is the mathematical signature the ECU uses to confirm a file is not corrupted. When a file is edited the signature must be recalculated, otherwise the unit refuses the file.
Can I bring my own file?
Yes. We can correct the checksum of your edited file; you remain responsible for its contents.
Can a wrong checksum damage the car?
A write that is interrupted or a file that was never verified can leave the ECU unusable. That is why we never skip the verification step.
How long does it take?
It depends on the file type; most files are done quickly, and if the structure is unsupported we tell you first.
For workshops
Prepare this file in your own workshop: ECU Prime
ECU Prime is chiptuning software that recognises the original ECU file you read with your tool and applies the operation you choose. The checksum is corrected in the same flow.
