Opel Insignia 1.6 Turbo Stage 1 Remap
On Opel Insignia 1.6 Turbo turbo petrol engines a Stage 1 remap recalibrates the boost pressure, ignition timing, fuelling and torque limiter maps. No hardware is changed and the original software is backed up. The same engine is sold with different stock outputs across generations, so the gain depends on your version.
It depends on the generation and the stock output. 1.6 Turbo engines with 170–200 bhp reach 190–220 bhp with a Stage 1 remap; the largest gain is +30 bhp (1.6 Turbo 170hp). Pick your version in the table below.

How a Stage 1 remap works on the Opel Insignia 1.6 Turbo
Stage 1 recalibrates boost, ignition and fuelling within the limits of the original hardware. The twin-scroll turbo responds quickly and the gain spreads across the rev range. Knock-sensor data and fuel quality are decisive in the calibration.
Pre-remap checklist
- Timing chain and tensioner (a known issue on early generations).
- Carbon build-up on the intake valves (direct injection).
- High-pressure fuel pump and ignition coils.
- Oil consumption and the PCV system.
This section is based on GP Power ECU workshop experience; the power and torque figures come from the catalogue measurement above.
