Mercedes-Benz B 180 CGi Stage 1 Remap

On Mercedes-Benz B 180 CGi naturally aspirated engines a Stage 1 remap refines the ignition timing, fuelling and throttle response maps. Without a turbo the power gain is smaller than on turbocharged engines; the difference is felt mostly in throttle response and the mid-range. No hardware is changed and the original software is backed up.

How much bhp does Mercedes-Benz B 180 CGi chip tuning add?

It depends on the generation and the stock output. 180 CGi engines with 122 bhp reach 175 bhp with a Stage 1 remap; the largest gain is +53 bhp (W246 180 CGi 122hp). Pick your version in the table below.

About the Mercedes-Benz 1.6 / 2.0 turbo petrol (M270 and M274: A180, A200, C180, C200, C250, E200, E250, GLC250)

Mercedes' post-2012 four-cylinder turbo petrols power the A, B, CLA, GLA, C, E, GLC and SLC from 122 to 245 hp. The 1.6 and 2.0 come from the same family, and hardware is largely shared between the C180, C200 and C250.

How a Stage 1 remap works on the Mercedes-Benz B 180 CGi

Stage 1 recalibrates boost, ignition and fuelling. Lower outputs such as the C180, E200 and A180 can approach the level of the output above; torque gains are felt from about 1,500 rpm. The 7G and 9G-Tronic torque limits are respected.

Pre-remap checklist

  • Ignition coils and spark plugs.
  • High-pressure fuel pump and injector health.
  • Turbo wastegate actuator and boost leaks.
  • Oil level; this engine is sensitive to oil consumption.

This section is based on GP Power ECU workshop experience; the power and torque figures come from the catalogue measurement above.

Frequently asked questions

How much bhp does Mercedes-Benz B 180 CGi chip tuning add?
It depends on the generation and the stock output. 180 CGi engines with 122 bhp reach 175 bhp with a Stage 1 remap; the largest gain is +53 bhp (W246 180 CGi 122hp). Pick your version in the table below.
What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 on the Mercedes-Benz B 180 CGi?
Stage 1 is software only: no part of the car is changed and the figures in the table apply to this software. Stage 2 is software prepared for hardware changes such as the exhaust, intercooler or intake; the hardware comes first, then the software.
Will chip tuning damage the engine?
No. Values stay inside the safety margin the manufacturer leaves; engine, gearbox and turbo limits are not exceeded. Every file is verified with a road test and data logging. If the car needs maintenance first (worn injectors, blocked filter, weak clutch) we tell you before starting.
Will my fuel consumption go up?
With the same driving style it usually drops, because you hold the same speed at lower revs and less throttle. If you use the extra power, consumption naturally rises. It is down to your right foot.
How long does it take? Do I leave the car?
Most cars take 1–2 hours and you get the car back the same day; no need to leave it. Some models need the ECU removed, which takes longer — we tell you when booking.
Can I go back to stock later?
Yes. The original file is read and archived before any work. We restore the factory software free of charge whenever you ask.
What is checked on the Mercedes-Benz B 180 CGi before remapping?
Before working on the Mercedes-Benz 1.6 / 2.0 turbo petrol (M270 and M274: A180, A200, C180, C200, C250, E200, E250, GLC250) we check: Ignition coils and spark plugs. High-pressure fuel pump and injector health. Turbo wastegate actuator and boost leaks. Oil level; this engine is sensitive to oil consumption. If something needs attention, maintenance comes first; the remap is applied to a healthy engine.
