Jaguar XF 5.0 V8 Stage 1 Remap
On Jaguar XF 5.0 V8 naturally aspirated engines a Stage 1 remap refines the ignition timing, fuelling and throttle response maps. Without a turbo the power gain is smaller than on turbocharged engines; the difference is felt mostly in throttle response and the mid-range. No hardware is changed and the original software is backed up.
It depends on the generation and the stock output. 5.0 V8 engines with 385–510 bhp reach 405–560 bhp with a Stage 1 remap; the largest gain is +50 bhp (5.0 V8 supercharged 510hp). Pick your version in the table below.
Jaguar XF 5.0 V8: Stage 1 figures by generation and year
Year / chassis: -> 2015
| Engine | Power | Torque | Gain |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jaguar XF 5.0 V8 385hp | 385 → 405 bhp | 515 → 540 Nm | +20 bhp |
| Jaguar XF 5.0 V8 supercharged 510hp | 510 → 560 bhp | 625 → 700 Nm | +50 bhp |

About the high-performance large-displacement petrol engine (V8, V10, V12, W12, AMG, RS)
This group covers the large-displacement, mostly twin-turbo or supercharged petrol engines of Mercedes-AMG, Audi RS/S, Bentley, Porsche, Maserati, McLaren and similar brands. They make high power from the factory and are managed with tight temperature, knock and torque limits.
How a Stage 1 remap works on the Jaguar XF 5.0 V8
A Stage 1 remap looks at torque request, boost pressure, ignition and gearbox torque limits together. Gains are clear on twin-turbo engines; on large naturally aspirated engines the effect of software is more limited. Cooling and gearbox limits are kept.
Pre-remap checklist
- Spark plugs, coils and fuel quality (high octane recommended).
- Cooling system and intercooler efficiency.
- Gearbox torque capacity and oil condition.
- Fault memory and any previous software or hardware changes.
On these engines the result depends heavily on hardware and fuel; figures are confirmed by measurement.
This section is based on GP Power ECU workshop experience; the power and torque figures come from the catalogue measurement above.
