Skoda Rapid 1.6 TDI Stage 1 Remap
On Skoda Rapid 1.6 TDI diesel engines a Stage 1 remap recalibrates the fuel quantity, injection timing, boost pressure and torque limiter maps. No hardware is changed and the original software is backed up. The same engine is sold with different stock outputs across generations, so the gain depends on your version.
It depends on the generation and the stock output. 1.6 TDI engines with 90–116 bhp reach 150 bhp with a Stage 1 remap; the largest gain is +60 bhp (1.6 TDI 90hp). Pick your version in the table below.
Skoda Rapid 1.6 TDI: Stage 1 figures by generation and year
Year / chassis: 2012+
| Engine | Power | Torque | Gain |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skoda Rapid 1.6 TDI 90hp | 90 → 150 bhp | 230 → 330 Nm | +60 bhp |
| Skoda Rapid 1.6 TDI 105hp | 105 → 150 bhp | 250 → 330 Nm | +45 bhp |
| Skoda Rapid 1.6 TDI 116hp | 116 → 150 bhp | 250 → 330 Nm | +34 bhp |

About the VW Group 1.6 / 2.0 TDI common rail (EA189 and EA288)
The common-rail 1.6 and 2.0 TDI are the core diesels of the post-2008 Golf, Passat, Tiguan, Octavia, Leon, A3, A4 and Q3, among many others. The EA189 generation and the later EA288 differ in injection system and emissions hardware (DPF, EGR, AdBlue on some), and the software is prepared with those differences in mind.
How a Stage 1 remap works on the Skoda Rapid 1.6 TDI
In this family a Stage 1 remap recalibrates rail pressure, injection duration, boost pressure and the torque limiter as one coherent set. The result is a fuller torque curve from low revs and less gear changing. On DSG cars the gearbox torque limit is respected separately.
Pre-remap checklist
- DPF soot and ash load; a saturated filter masks the effect of the remap.
- EGR valve and cooler cleanliness.
- Boost pressure sensor and hose connections.
- DSG oil service and clutch condition on dual-clutch cars.
On AdBlue-equipped versions, work on the emissions system is considered only as fault repair and within legal limits.
