Seat Leon 1.8T Stage 1 Remap
On Seat Leon 1.8T turbo petrol engines a Stage 1 remap recalibrates the boost pressure, ignition timing, fuelling and torque limiter maps. No hardware is changed and the original software is backed up. The same engine is sold with different stock outputs across generations, so the gain depends on your version.
It depends on the generation and the stock output. 1.8T engines with 180–225 bhp reach 220–260 bhp with a Stage 1 remap; the largest gain is +40 bhp (1M 1.8T 20v 180hp). Pick your version in the table below.
Seat Leon 1.8T: Stage 1 figures by generation and year
Year / chassis: 1M - 2000 - 2006
| Engine | Power | Torque | Gain |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seat Leon 1.8T 20v 180hp | 180 → 220 bhp | 235 → 330 Nm | +40 bhp |
| Seat Leon 1.8T 20v 210hp | 210 → 240 bhp | 270 → 340 Nm | +30 bhp |
| Seat Leon 1.8T 20v 225hp | 225 → 260 bhp | 280 → 400 Nm | +35 bhp |

About the VW Group 1.8T 20V (EA113, five-valve turbo petrol)
The 1.8T 20V is the five-valves-per-cylinder turbo petrol engine VW Group used from the late 1990s to the mid-2000s in the Golf, Passat, Audi A3/A4/A6/TT, Seat Leon/Toledo and Skoda Octavia. Its tough cast-iron block and small turbo made it well known in the tuning world.
How a Stage 1 remap works on the Seat Leon 1.8T
A Stage 1 remap recalibrates boost pressure, ignition timing and fuel maps together; torque rises clearly, especially in the mid-range. It stays within the limits of the original turbo (K03/K04) and keeps knock protection in place.
Pre-remap checklist
- Coil packs and spark plugs (coil failures are common on this family).
- Vacuum and boost hose leaks, crankcase ventilation (PCV) system.
- MAF sensor and lambda probe readings.
- Timing belt and water pump service history.
On older engines a service and a leak test are recommended before the remap.
