Porsche 911 GT2 Stage 1 Remap
On Porsche 911 GT2 naturally aspirated engines a Stage 1 remap refines the ignition timing, fuelling and throttle response maps. Without a turbo the power gain is smaller than on turbocharged engines; the difference is felt mostly in throttle response and the mid-range. No hardware is changed and the original software is backed up.
It depends on the generation and the stock output. GT2 engines with 530–620 bhp reach 580–650 bhp with a Stage 1 remap; the largest gain is +50 bhp (GT2 3.6i 530hp). Pick your version in the table below.
Porsche 911 GT2: Stage 1 figures by generation and year
Year / chassis: 2004 - 2011 ( 997 )
| Engine | Power | Torque | Gain |
|---|---|---|---|
| Porsche 911 GT2 3.6i 530hp | 530 → 580 bhp | 680 → 800 Nm | +50 bhp |
| Porsche 911 GT2 RS 3.6i 620hp | 620 → 650 bhp | 700 → 800 Nm | +30 bhp |

GP Power ECU applies the software at its workshop in Hukou, Hsinchu, using EcuPrime-developed files; workshops can also order the file directly.
About the naturally aspirated petrol engine
This vehicle uses a naturally aspirated petrol engine, without a turbo or supercharger. The amount of air it can draw in is physically limited; power depends mainly on displacement, revs and the intake and exhaust design.
How a Stage 1 remap works on the Porsche 911 GT2
On naturally aspirated engines the gain from a Stage 1 remap is limited compared with turbo engines. Ignition timing, fuel maps, throttle response and, where useful, the rev limit are optimised for a livelier response and a smoother power curve. Bigger gains need hardware changes such as intake, exhaust or camshafts.
Pre-remap checklist
- Spark plugs, coils and fuel quality.
- Air filter, throttle body and intake leaks.
- Lambda probe and catalytic converter condition.
- Engine compression and oil consumption (at high mileage).
Expectations on naturally aspirated engines should be realistic; catalogue figures are a typical range.
This section is based on GP Power ECU workshop experience; the power and torque figures come from the catalogue measurement above.
