Mini Cooper 1.5D Stage 1 Remap
On Mini Cooper 1.5D diesel engines a Stage 1 remap recalibrates the fuel quantity, injection timing, boost pressure and torque limiter maps. No hardware is changed and the original software is backed up. The same engine is sold with different stock outputs across generations, so the gain depends on your version.
It depends on the generation and the stock output. 1.5D engines with 116 bhp reach 150 bhp with a Stage 1 remap; the largest gain is +34 bhp (F56 1.5D 116hp). Pick your version in the table below.
Mini Cooper 1.5D: Stage 1 figures by generation and year
Year / chassis: F56 - LCI - 2018+
| Engine | Power | Torque | Gain |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mini Cooper 1.5D 116hp | 116 → 150 bhp | 270 → 330 Nm | +34 bhp |
Year / chassis: F56 - 2014 - 2018
| Engine | Power | Torque | Gain |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mini Cooper 1.5D 116hp | 116 → 150 bhp | 270 → 330 Nm | +34 bhp |

About the Mini Cooper D / SD diesel (PSA DV6 and BMW B37 / B47)
Mini diesels used the PSA-derived 1.6 HDi (DV6) from 2007 to 2014 and BMW's three-cylinder 1.5 (B37) and four-cylinder 2.0 (B47) diesels from 2014 onwards, from 90 to 190 hp.
How a Stage 1 remap works on the Mini Cooper 1.5D
Stage 1 recalibrates rail pressure, injection and boost. Low-rev torque fills out noticeably, and thanks to the light body the difference is felt at once. Emissions systems are preserved.
Pre-remap checklist
- Turbo oil feed line and DPF load on DV6 versions.
- EGR cooler and DPF on the B37 / B47.
- Boost leaks.
- Dual-mass flywheel and clutch.
