BMW 340i Stage 1 Remap
On BMW 340i turbo petrol engines a Stage 1 remap recalibrates the boost pressure, ignition timing, fuelling and torque limiter maps. No hardware is changed and the original software is backed up. The same engine is sold with different stock outputs across generations, so the gain depends on your version.
It depends on the generation and the stock output. 340i engines with 326–360 bhp reach 400 bhp with a Stage 1 remap; the largest gain is +74 bhp (F34 LCI 340i 326hp). Pick your version in the table below.
BMW 340i: Stage 1 figures by generation and year
Year / chassis: F34 LCI - 2016+
| Engine | Power | Torque | Gain |
|---|---|---|---|
| BMW 3 Series GT 340i 326hp | 326 → 400 bhp | 450 → 580 Nm | +74 bhp |
| BMW 3 Series GT 340i Performance Package 360hp | 360 → 400 bhp | 500 → 580 Nm | +40 bhp |

About the BMW 3.0 turbo petrol (N54, N55 and B58: 335i, 340i, 535i, 540i, M140i, M240i, X5 40i)
BMW's six-cylinder turbo petrols, the N54 (2006–2013, twin turbo), N55 (2009–2017, single twin-scroll turbo) and B58 (2015 onwards), power the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 Series, X3, X4, X5, X6 and Z4 from 306 to 387 hp and are famous for their response to software.
How a Stage 1 remap works on the BMW 340i
Stage 1 recalibrates boost, ignition, fuelling and torque maps. The gain spreads across the whole rev range and is very clear in the mid-range. The automatic gearbox torque capacity is respected; knock-sensor data and fuel quality bound the calibration.
Pre-remap checklist
- High-pressure fuel pump and injectors (a known issue on the N54 / N55).
- Ignition coils and spark plugs.
- Turbo wastegate play and boost leaks.
- Oil consumption, PCV and cooling system (water pump, thermostat).
This section is based on GP Power ECU workshop experience; the power and torque figures come from the catalogue measurement above.
