About the VW Group 2.0 TDI pump-duse (PD, 2003–2008)
The pre-common-rail 2.0 TDI uses unit injectors and is found in the Golf Mk5, Passat B6, A3 8P and Octavia Mk2. It came in 8- and 16-valve forms; both have a strong bottom end, but injector and camshaft condition decide the outcome.
How a Stage 1 remap works on the Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI 140hp
Stage 1 recalibrates the torque limiter, injection quantity and boost maps within the engine's thermal limits, giving a full torque delivery between roughly 1,800 and 3,500 rpm. On 16-valve versions the state of the intake flaps affects how the engine responds.
Pre-remap checklist
- Camshaft and unit injector wear.
- Intake manifold swirl flap mechanism.
- Boost leaks and intercooler hoses.
- DPF load on filter-equipped versions.
This section is based on GP Power ECU workshop experience; the power and torque figures come from the catalogue measurement above.
