About the Mercedes-Benz Kompressor 1.8 (M271: C180 K, C200 K, E200 K, CLK200 K)
The supercharged 1.8-litre M271 was used from 2002 to 2011 in the C-Class, E-Class, CLK and SLK from 143 to 192 hp. Thanks to its mechanical supercharger it has no turbo lag and a linear character.
How a Stage 1 remap works on the Mercedes-Benz E W211 200 K 184hp
Stage 1 re-tunes ignition advance, fuelling and the supercharger bypass control. The gain is felt mainly in the mid and upper range; on lower outputs such as the C180 K, which shares hardware with the C200 K, the difference is clear.
Pre-remap checklist
- Timing chain and camshaft adjusters (known chain stretch issue).
- Supercharger pulley, belt and bypass flap.
- Ignition coils and spark plugs.
- Oil consumption and the PCV system.
This section is based on GP Power ECU workshop experience; the power and torque figures come from the catalogue measurement above.
